Welcome to South Asia Network for Chronic Disease (SANCD) website. SANCD is a new network that operates under the umbrella of Public Health Foundation of India. We aim to become a key player in strengthening chronic disease research in the region. Our links are widely spread in India: Sangath, Goa; Aravind, Pondicherry; Sneha, Mumbai; VHS, Chennai; Centre for Chronic Disease Control, New Delhi and in the region: Aga Khan University, Pakistan and ICDDR, B- Bangaldesh. We intent to develop links in Sri Lanka and Nepal in the near future.
With generous funding from the Wellcome Trust, UK and local support from Public Health Foundation of India and Centre for Chronic Disease Control we have made an excellent start, recruiting new staff and initiating the process of capacity building through career development and training, strengthening existing research infrastructure and initiating collaborative research programmes.
I hope you find the website useful in finding out about our aims, partners, staff, research and outputs.
